Rico Lewis' sister Sacha turns pro with Man City

Sacha Lewis, sibling of England international Rico, has signed her maiden professional deal with Women's Super League side Manchester City. The 18-year-old defender joins the ranks of her older brother, who also started his career at City's academy and went on to become a vital player in the men's team under former manager Pep Guardiola.

Sacha began her journey with City at the under-14 level and advanced through the system, featuring twice in the matchday squads last season as the club clinched their first title in a decade in the Women's Super League. The England Under-19 international was also included in the squad that faced Chelsea in the Women's League Cup semi-final, although she has yet to make her senior debut for City.

Sacha expressed her joy, stating, "It's amazing. A lot of hard work was put in, and it's such an incredible achievement. I'm proud." She added, "It means so much, especially because I support City. Being here in the academy, not many people get this opportunity, so I'm very grateful." Manchester City's director of football, Therese Sjogran, hailed Sacha as "a shining example to her team-mates, despite still being just 18."

Rico, who is three years older than Sacha, made his senior debut for City in 2022, appearing in 11 Premier League matches last season. The right-back has also earned five caps for England, with his most recent appearance in 2024. As City gets ready to defend their WSL title at home against newly-promoted Birmingham City on September 6, Sacha's professional journey marks an exciting new chapter for the young defender.
