Published bad roads constructed under Oyetola, not Adeleke — Osun

The Osun State Government has refuted a misleading article published in a national daily, claiming the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is responsible for poor road conditions in Modakeke, a statement that the government calls "fake news." According to the government, the road depicted in the article was actually built during the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and is situated in Mukoro, Ile-Ife.

The publication featured pictures of dilapidated roads and waste in Modakeke, accompanied by a caption that suggested the issue was a result of the Adeleke administration's governance. The Osun State Ministry of Works released the GPS coordinates of the road to substantiate their claim. The government has emphasized that roads currently being developed under the Adeleke administration have not yet reached the stage where lane markings were visible in the published photograph.

They maintain that their focus has been on rectifying and rehabilitating projects inherited from the previous administration. The government also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of attempting to shift responsibility for deficient infrastructure to the Adeleke administration. The development comes amid existing political tension in Osun, where the Accord Party-led government and the opposition APC have been at odds over governance and security.

The government urged residents to independently verify their claims and accused the APC of attempting to absolve the current administration of poor infrastructure.
