Phil Foden excited at prospect of 'fresh start' under new Man Cty manager Enzo Maresca

Manchester City has arrived in Seoul for their concluding stages of pre-season preparations prior to the imminent Premier League season. The club, double champions in the League and FA Cup, recently saw manager Pep Guardiola depart in May, following a decade at the helm. Manager Enzo Maresca took over the reins, with significant changes on the field, including the departure of experienced defenders John Stones, Nathan Ake, and Bernardo Silva.

Additionally, the club has invested £116 million in the acquisition of midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Homegrown talent Phil Foden, who has never had another manager during his 369 appearances for the club, is set to begin his senior career under a new coach. Foden expressed his excitement about the fresh start under Maresca, praising the coaching staff and training methods.

The team will face a K-League All Stars XI and then Atletico Madrid in friendly matches at the Seoul World Cup Stadium before facing Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on August 16. Maresca, in his first game as manager, led City to a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in Hong Kong, resulting in a penalty loss. The Italian manager acknowledged that the club's transfer window remains open but that no further signings have been made thus far, emphasizing the need to address the loss of experienced players like Stones, Ake, and Silva. City's Premier League season kicks off against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on August 23.
