Miller calls for his own ethics probe following abuse allegations

Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) has announced his intention to initiate an ethics investigation into himself, following allegations of domestic abuse made against him by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. The allegations, which Miller has denied, involve hitting and threatening Moreno. In a series of tweets, Miller stated, "I have absolutely nothing to hide," and expressed his willingness to provide the committee with all necessary documents.

This move comes amidst a competitive reelection race for Miller, who is also a former Trump aide. Moreno's father, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), criticized his son-in-law, stating that Miller fails basic standards of character required to hold elected office. President Trump, in a phone call on Monday, expressed doubt about Miller's candidacy.

Meanwhile, lawyers for former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham have filed a motion to prevent Miller from violating a settlement agreement. Grisham had previously written an op-ed in The Washington Post about an abusive ex-boyfriend in the Trump administration, leading to a defamation lawsuit from Miller. However, they had previously agreed to refrain from making disparaging public statements about one another as part of a deal for Miller to drop the case.
