MDA paramedic delivers his own baby daughter in ambulance en route to hospital

Long-serving Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedic Yitzhak Bendahan delivered his own newborn daughter while en route to the hospital on Monday, MDA reported. Bendahan's wife Yael was experiencing advanced labor as they embarked on the journey to the hospital via Bendahan's personal ambulance, which he keeps at their home for prompt emergency response in their Beit Shemesh community.

As their drive continued, Yael's contractions intensified and became more frequent. Despite their anticipation, the couple soon understood that they wouldn't have sufficient time to reach the hospital before the baby was born. With this realization, Bendahan safely stopped the ambulance by the roadside and promptly delivered a healthy baby girl.

The Bendahan family was initially unaware of the baby's gender, adding an extra layer of excitement to this extraordinary delivery. MDA paramedics are accustomed to handling various medical emergencies, but as Bendahan noted, "As an MDA paramedic, I've delivered quite a few babies over the years, but I'd never experienced anything like this."

Delivering his own child with his own hands is an experience Yitzhak Bendahan will cherish forever, emphasizing the profound joy and unique nature of this event.
