Lee to dispatch special envoys to inauguration of new Colombian president this week

President Lee Jae Myung plans to dispatch special envoys to the inauguration of Colombia's new president this week, according to a statement from his office on Tuesday. The envoys, including Rep. Yoon Joon-byeong from the ruling Democratic Party and Rep. Lee Hai-min from the opposition Rebuilding Korea Party, will attend the ceremony on Friday to mark their commitment to enhancing cooperation with the new Colombian administration.

Yoon, a vice chairman of the South Korea-Colombia lawmakers' friendship association, will brief the new Colombian government on Seoul's foreign and domestic policies. He will also deliver a personal letter from President Lee, reaffirming his dedication to strengthening ties between the two nations.

During the event, the envoys will participate in a reception hosted by the incoming Colombian president and attend other related gatherings to emphasize South Korea's intent to expand cooperation with Colombia across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, education, and the economy, according to Kang Yu-jung, a presidential spokesperson.
