Kangana, Khushbu Sundar support Udhayanidhi Stalin's arrest, slam his comments on Trisha

Actress Kangana Ranaut, a BJP MP, strongly condemned Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks about actress Trisha Krishnan, calling them unacceptable in public discourse. In a comment on Instagram Stories, Kangana described the remarks as "filthy abuses, double-meaning obscene and vulgar jokes" that have no place in a civilized society. She also noted that Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested for the offence, though he may now be out on bail.

Meanwhile, actress-politician Khushbu Sundar echoed Kangana Ranaut's sentiments, condemning Udhayanidhi's speech as disrespectful and unbecoming of a public leader. She stated that the speech reflected a political culture that she feared would be inherited, and warned that the normalization of such language could have serious consequences for families.

The controversy arose during a DMK protest in Thanjavur over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute and Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu project. Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and when the crowd began chanting Trisha Krishnan's name, Stalin made a remark in Tamil that was later clarified to refer to the Cauvery water dispute.

Despite the clarification, the statement sparked widespread criticism, leading to a case being registered against Udhayanidhi Stalin and him being arrested from his Chennai residence on August 4, though he was released on bail shortly after.
