Iranian President denies claims of resignation and rift with supreme leader

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly denied allegations that he had been contemplating resignation, labeling the claims as attempts to sow discord among the nation's political and military leaders. The President's government, he stated, operates in full coordination with Iran's military forces, and he categorically rejected rumors of any rift within the Tehran regime.

According to Iranian state media, Pezeshkian issued a direct statement, declaring his intention to "stand firm" and asserting that he would not resign. Should he resign, he would formally announce his decision himself, he added. These remarks follow the emergence of reports suggesting that the President had threatened to resign no fewer than 28 times.

The claims further alleged that he had submitted a tentative resignation letter in May, citing his perceived marginalization from national security and foreign policy decisions by the military and hardline factions.

However, Iranian officials swiftly dismissed these allegations at the time, with Mehdi Tabatabai, spokesman for Pezeshkian's office, calling the reports "baseless" and "pure fabrication". He emphasized that the President's resignation had never been under consideration, further claiming that the allegations constituted part of a larger campaign to manipulate public perception of the government.
