I have never ruled any position out – Asiedu Nketiah keeps presidential ambition alive

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has remained non-committal about his future ambitions, stating that all political positions remain open to him. During an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express, the seasoned politician emphasized that ambition plays a crucial role in politics and that those lacking ambition may be in the wrong profession.

The remarks came as speculation mounts regarding his nationwide thank-you tour, which some believe could be linked to his potential bid for the NDC's presidential slot ahead of the 2028 elections. However, Asiedu Nketiah clarified that how a politician manages their ambition is key, and he intends to make his intentions clear at the right moment.

He dismissed the notion that political ambitions can remain concealed, using pregnancy as a comparison. The NDC Chairman also questioned whether the time for him to declare any political move had arrived, stating that he would reveal his intentions when the appropriate time comes. When asked directly about his personal ambition to become president, Asiedu Nketiah inquired whether the moment had come for such a declaration.

He mentioned that various political avenues remain available to him, saying he has not limited his future options. Potential positions include becoming the NDC's next national organiser, general secretary, or even contesting for parliament again. He clarified that his refusal to be explicit about his ambitions does not mean he is keeping a presidential ambition alive; in fact, he believes that leaving people guessing is part of the political game.

The NDC Chairman emphasized that there is nothing wrong with keeping people in suspense. When specifically asked if he was intentionally avoiding ruling out a presidential bid, Asiedu Nketiah reiterated that he has never ruled out any position in his life.
