Here’s the first Asus Googlebook as the floodgates start to open

Another Googlebook has emerged online, just a day following images of a different manufacturer's version. This particular model is the Asus Googlebook CX9406. While we are aware of Google's Googlebook line, the details surrounding it remain somewhat enigmatic. Recent leaks have unveiled versions from Lenovo, who seem to be planning on releasing two models.

Additional images of the larger 15-inch model have also surfaced, but previously, not much information was available from other manufacturers tasked with developing hardware for the new laptop line, until now.

9to5Google has obtained images of the Asus Googlebook, branded as the CX9406. These images surfaced on the iF Design website, but have since disappeared from the site. The listing on the site refers to the Asus Googlebook as a Chromebook, which contradicts the fact. The label "Aluminium OS" for the operating system clearly disqualifies it from being a Chromebook.

Although Google hasn't officially named the underlying Googlebook OS, early reports suggest it might be called Aluminum OS. It is possible that the Gemini-powered laptop operating system could have a different name.

Further details in the leaked images indicate that the laptop is indeed a Googlebook. A "Glowbar" can be observed over the Asus logo, which is similar to the LED strip found on the Pixel 11. The LED strip is expected to light up for specific notifications. The Google "G" is also visible where the start menu button would typically be on a Windows machine.

Additionally, the same launcher icon seen over the caps lock key on Lenovo's Googlebook is present on this model, although the function of this icon remains unclear. The back row keys are nearly impossible to identify, as they are likely very similar to those found on Lenovo's version. The ports are also difficult to identify, with the curved edges of the bottom half adding to the confusion.

One side features a USB-C port and an HDMI port, while the other has one USB-C and two USB-A ports. The Asus Googlebook also includes a 3.5mm audio jack. The color scheme is appealing, as it contrasts nicely with the dark gray or carbon finish. The Glowbar should complement the overall design nicely.
