Govt dismisses reports of fuel quality issues, says checks on

The government has dismissed claims of widespread fuel adulteration, stating that only two cases of chloride contamination have been found across the entire country. In response to such concerns, additional checks have been introduced by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to ensure fuel quality. Oil Marketing Companies are now conducting water-ingress testing multiple times a day at over 87,000 fuel outlets, with more than 2,000 samples tested for chloride and sulphide contamination.

The ministry emphasized that the testing protocols are rigorous and comprehensive, and if any contamination is detected, strict action will be taken. Oil marketing companies have been instructed to take proactive measures to detect possible contamination throughout the fuel supply chain.
