Google Renames NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook, Expanding Its Role Across Gemini

Google has rebranded its research workspace NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook, integrating the tool more deeply into the Gemini ecosystem. This expansion allows notebooks to synchronize across the Gemini app and Google Search, creating a central hub for organizing sources, chats, and AI-assisted analysis. The initiative begins a staged rollout across Workspace customers and personal accounts, with Gemini Notebook already supporting diverse source formats such as Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, PDFs, URLs, and audio.

The expanded role of Gemini Notebook includes generating files directly from chat interactions, though currently limited to one file per prompt. Deep Research functionality enables structured reporting by synthesizing information from multiple sources, including web content and Drive files. However, the quality of outputs relies heavily on the relevance and accuracy of the selected sources.

While the rebrand does not alter existing pricing or plan structures, the shift signifies a broader ecosystem integration and expanded capabilities for managing and analyzing information within Google's suite of products.
