Gaza families bury 112 people recovered nearly three years after Israeli strikes

Nearly three years after Israeli strikes, Gaza families buried 112 people recovered from the rubble. The remains were laid to rest in Gaza City on August 4, 2026, marking both relief and renewed grief for the families. The Abu Shari a and al-Hasayna clan, among others, lost loved ones in the Israeli air strike on November 2023. The attack targeted the Sabra neighbourhood, flattening hundreds of homes and killing over 300 people, including 44 children and 37 women.

The recovery operation was delayed due to a lack of heavy equipment, but Civil Defence crews managed to recover the bodies of 112 people after 17 days of work. Despite the closure of search-and-rescue efforts, thousands of victims remain buried beneath the debris, causing ongoing pain for the families.
