DY Patil, former Bengal governor, dies at 92

DY Patil, a former governor of West Bengal and respected Congress leader, passed away at the age of 92 after a prolonged illness, according to family sources. Born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Patil served as an MLA from 1967 to 1978 before shifting his focus towards education. He founded several educational institutions in Maharashtra, most notably the D Y Patil University, which now offers over 146 courses in various disciplines.

A Padma Shri awardee, Patil held the position of governor in Tripura, Bihar, and held additional charge of West Bengal. His contributions to education, health, and public service have been widely recognized and remembered. Condolences poured in from across the country, with numerous leaders expressing their grief and praising his work.
