Dodgers Lose Opener vs. Cubs, Extend Losing Streak to 4

The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered their fourth straight loss on Monday, falling in the first game of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to hits from Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pages, and Tommy Edman. However, the Cubs quickly responded with a home run of their own by Seiya Suzuki, tying the score at 3-3.

Kevin Alcantara then delivered a two-run home run for the Cubs, extending their lead to 6-3. The Dodgers managed to narrow the gap to 6-4 in the fourth inning, with a two-out single by Eliézer Alfonzo followed by Kyle Tucker's run scoring. Nevertheless, the Cubs regained control in the following inning, as Michael Busch hit a home run to restore their three-run lead.

Busch's homer traveled just 381 feet, barely clearing the left-center field wall in Wrigley Field. Starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski left the game after allowing the fourth home run, finishing with a 4.1 innings pitch, seven earned runs on seven hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. This marked the second consecutive game where Wrobleski had allowed four home runs, following an eight in his 17 previous starts.

The Dodgers managed to tie the game again in the top of the sixth inning, as Teoscar Hernández hit a 443-foot homer that landed outside the stadium, beyond the left field seats. However, Chicago extended their advantage in the bottom of the sixth, with a single and three consecutive walks loading the bases after Dansby Swanson was caught stealing.

Tanner Scott managed to strike out the next batter, but a two-run single allowed the Cubs to take a commanding 10-5 lead.
