Colts Say QB is Back 'Like He Never Got Hurt'

The Indianapolis Colts have unveiled a quarterback who seems to have returned to form after recovering from a severe injury, according to team sources. Daniel Jones, who was sidelined due to a fractured fibula and subsequently tore his Achilles tendon on December 7, is making a remarkable comeback. Despite the severity of his injury, Jones is displaying the same spark he had during the first half of the previous season, according to teammates.

On training camp Saturday, Jones reportedly ran for a score on a designed run, showcasing his agility and skill. Colts.com's JJ Stankevitz noted that "he looks like he never got hurt," adding that Jones is "throwing dimes left and right" during practice sessions. Quenton Nelson, left guard for the Colts, echoed similar sentiments, stating that Jones has been "incredible" in camp and "back like he's never left."

Jones' performance in training camp is a significant positive for the Colts, who had dropped their last seven games following Jones' injury. Prior to his injury, Jones led the team to an 8-5 record, throwing for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. Assuming he missed week 11 due to his initial injury, the Colts were 8-2 that season with Jones fully healthy.

The timeline of Jones' recovery is remarkable, as it took just over nine months to regain his form, a recovery period that would have seemed improbable a few years ago. This rapid return to form can be compared to Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum, who also returned just 10 months after tearing his Achilles tendon and went on to have a successful NBA season.

Given these advancements in medical treatments, Jones' recovery is becoming increasingly normalized, and he is expected to return for the regular season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on September 13.
