Clark Lea gives timeline for Vanderbilt football naming starting QB

Clark Lea, Vanderbilt's football coach, provided a timeline for naming the team's starting quarterback on August 4 at a press conference. However, he did not strictly adhere to that schedule, as he indicated the team might require additional time to determine a starter. The first scrimmage where this decision could be made is scheduled for August 15. If there is still no clear choice by then, a second scrimmage is planned for August 22.

Jared Curtis, a highly-ranked recruit, and Blaze Berlowitz, who transferred from New Mexico State, are the two quarterbacks vying for the starting position. Curtis is currently considered the favorite to secure the job, but he will need to demonstrate his ability to command the offense and outperform Berlowitz. At SEC Media Days, Lea refrained from naming a starter and also did not involve either quarterback in the discussions.
