Cambodian woman arrested for selling pork outside work permit in Sa Kaeo

Sa Kaeo — Cambodian immigration authorities have apprehended a 33-year-old woman for allegedly violating her work permit by selling pork at a local market. The arrest occurred during a joint investigation between the Sa Kaeo Immigration Police and the provincial employment office at the Sa Kaeo Municipal Fresh Market in Muang district.

Upon finding the woman selling fresh pork, officers requested to examine her documentation. She possessed a valid Cambodian passport and was entitled to reside in Thailand until 2027. However, her work permit only sanctioned her to work as a laborer, not the sale of pork. Consequently, she was charged for working without a valid work permit or engaging in activities beyond the scope of her authorized employment.

The suspect will face legal proceedings at Muang Sa Kaeo Police Station. Authorities from the Sa Kaeo Immigration Police announced that ongoing inspections of foreign workers will persist throughout the province, with threats of legal action against both employers and migrant workers in case of any violation of work permit conditions or other labor regulations.
