Beauty queen Grace Chan files police report after son splashed at cinema over row

Hong Kong police are currently seeking a woman who allegedly splashed a "cream-like" substance on the six-year-old son of actress and beauty queen Grace Chan Hoi-lem during a movie screening in Admiralty. According to a police source, Chan filed a report with the authorities last Friday after the incident. The actress, winner of the Miss Hong Kong 2013 pageant and wife of TVB actor Kevin Cheng Ka-wing, brought her three sons - aged three, six, and seven - to watch the summer blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day at Pacific Place last Thursday afternoon.

An online viewer claimed the children were being disruptive during the film, talking loudly, laughing, and screaming. Despite their mother attempting to quieten them, the woman who splashed the liquid on the boy's head remained unapologetic. "Only when the lights came on at the end of the movie did I realise the mother was Grace Chan. As a celebrity, you don’t even know basic cinema etiquette and show zero respect for movies," the viewer stated.

The six-year-old boy was also reported to have kicked the seat in front of him. Upon the film's conclusion, the woman suddenly splashed the liquid on the boy's head and departed. Local media described the liquid as "cream-like". Police sources confirm that Chan and the woman were not acquainted. The actress reportedly apologized after her son unintentionally kicked the seatback of the woman in front of her.

The child was unharmed in the incident. Chan visited the police the following day to file a report, confirming to local media that she had indeed reported the situation. She expressed the need to reflect as a mother and improve by teaching her children to be mindful of their behavior when going out. The woman who splashed the liquid on Chan's son did not request the family to lower their voices during the movie. Another social media user defended Chan and her children, stating that the boys were well-behaved.
