All the Box Office Records ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Has Broken So Far

Sony/Marvel Studios' "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" shattered numerous box office records in its opening weekend. The film topped the all-time domestic opening record of "Avengers: Endgame," grossing $360 million in the U.S. and Canada alone. This success continued with the second highest global opening of all time, amassing $932 million worldwide.

By the sixth day of theatrical play, the film was projected to cross the $1 billion mark. Its impressive run may continue with a potential $2 billion worldwide total in the weeks ahead.

The opening day broke records with a $169.3 million domestic gross, including a $72 million preview day. This surpassed the previous record of $157.4 million set by "Endgame." Early access screenings on Wednesday for Prime Video subscribers and noon preview screenings on Thursday contributed to these records, as opposed to later "Endgame" screenings. The demand was so high that pushback on start times was necessary, a deviation from previous Marvel films.

"Dolby Cinema" and "ScreenX/4DX" formats saw record-breaking openings. Cinemas reported two-thirds of their 177 U.S. auditoriums sold out in presales, resulting in $10 million in grosses for the weekend. Meanwhile, "ScreenX" and "4DX" combined for a record $31 million from 1,111 theaters globally, with ScreenX alone achieving a domestic record $7 million opening weekend gross, more than double the previous record held by "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie."

Overseas, the film set all-time opening records in 19 countries, including a $26.6 million opening in France and record openings of $23.8 million in Brazil and $15.6 million in Spain. Impressively, "Brand New Day" made history with the highest opening weekend for a Hollywood production in India, grossing $31.8 million.
