4 arrested for abduction, possession of weapon

In Singapore, four individuals have been apprehended for kidnapping and possession of a weapon, with one individual set to face court proceedings on August 5. The Woodlands Police Division received a report on August 4th about a man being harassed by a group of four individuals wielding a parang in a carpark at Canberra Street around 1:55 AM. The incident occurred following a disagreement over a car rental agreement.

The victim was confronted by the group, during which a 38-year-old man from the group brandished a parang and threatened the victim. The victim was then coerced into sitting in the front passenger seat of his vehicle. The vehicle was driven to a different location by the 38-year-old man, while another 36-year-old man from the group sat in the rear.

Upon spotting the police, the 38-year-old man fled the vehicle with both passengers. The car collided with a lamp post at the intersection of Woodlands Avenue 7 and Woodlands Avenue 10. The 36-year-old man subsequently fled the scene, while the 38-year-old was arrested at the scene along with the recovered parang. The 36-year-old man and two women aged 30 and 38 were subsequently arrested through follow-up investigations.

The 38-year-old man faces charges of abduction and possession of a scheduled weapon. Should he be found guilty, he may be sentenced with imprisonment, fines, caning, or a combination thereof. The investigations into the 36-year-old man and the two women are still underway.
