Zaluzhnyi visits Chernihiv Oblast with other diplomats

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK and former commander-in-chief, made a visit to Chernihiv Oblast on August 3. During this trip, he emphasized the importance of robust post-war security guarantees for Ukraine. In a Facebook post, Zaluzhnyi recounted, “This round of the meeting of Ukrainian ambassadors began with a trip to my native, front-line Chernihiv Oblast.”

This region, which he defended during the initial stages of the full-scale invasion and endured a severe occupation, still serves as Ukraine’s northern boundary with Russia and Belarus. Zaluzhnyi expressed gratitude for the chance to meet with individuals who protect and rebuild life in these challenging circumstances.

Following his visit, Zaluzhnyi and his fellow ambassadors proceeded to meetings in Kyiv. There, their primary focus is on efforts to establish peace. He further stated that genuine security guarantees entail enhancing the nation’s defense capabilities and fostering effective security alliances. A conference featuring Ukrainian ambassadors commenced on August 3 and is set to continue until August 7. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, attended the event as a distinguished guest.
