Yaduveer seeks Centre’s nod to include Mysuru in global tourism mission

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar met Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to present a proposal for the city's inclusion in the National Mission for the Development of 50 Globally Competitive Tourist Destinations, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26. Speaking of Mysuru's unique cultural, historical, spiritual, and tourism significance, Wadiyar emphasized the city's rich heritage, royal legacy, and cultural traditions, citing the Mysore Palace, Mysuru Dasara festival, yoga and wellness center, traditional handicrafts, and vibrant art as key attractions.

He also highlighted the city's well-developed road, rail, and air connectivity. Inclusion in the national mission, Wadiyar argued, would bolster tourism infrastructure, enhance visitor amenities, preserve heritage sites, promote sustainable tourism, and generate employment opportunities. He urged the Karnataka Tourism Department to submit a comprehensive proposal to the Centre, emphasizing the city's strengths, unique characteristics, and tourism potential.

Wadiyar expressed confidence that the Centre would favorably consider Mysuru's proposal and extend the benefits of the national mission to the city, stating that it would unlock Mysuru's immense tourism potential and further solidify its status as a globally recognized tourism destination.
