UFC or PFL? Nurmagomedov to decide future 'very soon'

PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov is set to make a crucial decision about his future "very soon," according to his cousin and coach Khabib Nurmagomedov. The 28-year-old, who has never lost in his 22-fight career, is widely regarded as one of the sport's brightest talents outside the UFC. Khabib recently secured Nurmagomedov's PFL title with a knockout victory over Archie Colgan last week, marking the second defense of the belt and his sixth overall.

While Nurmagomedov has been rumored to eventually join the UFC, his current contract with the PFL ends abruptly. Khabib praised his cousin's accomplishments and compared him to fellow contender Islam Makhachev, hinting that negotiations regarding his next move will occur within the next month. Nurmagomedov himself hinted at financial considerations when he jokingly asked MVP co-owner Jake Paul for a bonus, responding, "brother let's talk about today - we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow".

The UFC's president, Dana White, has indicated that they are open to signing Nurmagomedov, but the Russian fighter has made clear that money will play a significant role in his decision.
