Texans Reunite With Former No 1 Pick to Bolster Terrifying Defense

The Houston Texans have bolstered their already formidable defense by reuniting with defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, the franchise's No. 1 overall draft pick in 2014. The veteran defensive end has agreed to contract extensions with the Texans, joining Danielle Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., and Azeez Al-Shaair in strengthening the team's defensive line.

In an exclusive interview with Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, Clowney reflected on his journey since leaving Houston. "I've grown up and learned the game a lot more since leaving," he stated. "I feel like I can help the younger guys. I've learned how to lead and what it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I feel like I can help this team."

Clowney, now 33, had previously visited the Cleveland Browns and received lucrative offers from other teams, including a guaranteed starting role. Despite these tempting opportunities, Clowney has chosen to return to Houston where he began his NFL career. Over the course of his five-season tenure with the Texans from 2014 to 2018, Clowney appeared in 13 games, starting six and recording a total of 8.5 sacks, 10 QB hits, 12 tackles for loss, and 41 tackles (24 solo).

If successful with Houston, Clowney could be setting himself up for a fairytale ending by helping the franchise he started with win its first Super Bowl.
