Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Set for Rare Preseason Action Under Mike McCarthy

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been granted permission by head coach Mike McCarthy to participate in the team's first two preseason games. Rodgers, who previously retired after the 2025 season, is 42 years old and is expected to play a critical role in the Steelers' 2026 season. He completed 65.7% of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions for the Steelers last season.

Rodgers, who previously played for the Packers and the Jets, expressed his willingness to play if McCarthy wanted him to. McCarthy, who coached Rodgers in Green Bay and now leads the Steelers, acknowledged that the decision to have Rodgers play would be made closer to the games, emphasizing the importance of the team's overall health and performance.
