Rosmah mohon kemuka keterangan baharu rayuan sabitan rasuah solar hibrid

Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, has sought clarification through the Court of Appeal Act 1964 and Court of Appeal Practice Notes 68 and 69 to introduce three additional pieces of evidence during the hearing of her appeal against a RM1.25 billion hybrid solar project corruption case. In a filing dated July 21, Rosmah requested permission under Section 61 of the Court of Appeal Act 1964, and Rules 68 and 69 of the Court of Appeal Practice Notes, to present the new evidence during the hearing.

Her supporting affidavit, cited by FMT, claims that witness Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah was pressured into giving testimony admitting her guilt. Rosmah submitted a letter from Tetuan Shamsuddin & Co dated July 10 and a police report made by Rayyan on the same day. She also presented a sworn statement from Radyan dated July 10, along with an annexed affidavit dated August 3, 2020.

Rosmah, who is currently challenging the RM1.25 billion hybrid solar project corruption charges, has also requested permission to recall Radyan to give further testimony either at the Court of Appeal or the High Court. If granted, she wishes for additional witness testimony to be recorded and accepted as fresh evidence in the appeal.

The matter will be heard on September 1. Rosmah has also asked the court to adjourn the hearing, which is scheduled to last for 11 days from September 1 to September 30, while waiting for the High Court's decision. On September 2, High Court Judge Zaini Mazlan condemned Rosmah for her attempt to obtain RM187.5 million from former Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin, through her close associate Rizal Mansor, to help the company secure the hybrid solar project.

She was also found guilty of receiving RM5 million from Saidi via Rizal at Seri Perdana on December 20, 2016, and an additional RM1.5 million at her residence in Langgak Duta on September 7, 2017. Zaini sentenced Rosmah to 10 years in prison for each of the three charges, with a concurrent 10-year prison term and a RM970 million fine. If she fails to pay the fine, she will serve an additional 10 years in prison.
