Rokky teams up with Revolution Software to bring Broken Sword franchise to China

Rokky, a game distributor, has teamed up with Revolution Software to co-publish the Broken Sword franchise in China. The partnership involves marketing, translation, localization, influencer outreach, and community management for Rokky. The Broken Sword titles to be released are Shadow of the Templar: Reforged and the upcoming remaster of The Smoking Mirror.

These remastered versions boast improved graphics with redrawn backgrounds, over 30,000 reanimated character sprites, and enhanced audio. Revolution Software founder and creative director, Charles Cecil, expressed excitement about co-publishing with Rokky, crediting the company for their extensive experience. The Broken Sword series has a dedicated fan base in China, which inspired Revolution Software to bring the games to the Chinese market after receiving feedback from Chinese gamers during the reforging process.

Rokky has seen significant growth in China over recent years, leading to the transition of its China distribution team into an official publishing unit. This marks Rokky's first time in the publishing field, after previously distributing PC games for publishers like Sony, Capcom, and Team17. Rokky CEO and founder Vadim Andreev highlighted the importance of local insight into player behavior and distribution in the Chinese market, which they have gained through years of presence in the region.

While Rokky has distributed various titles before, publishing presents a new challenge requiring a different skill set. Andreev expressed enthusiasm about tackling these challenges. Additionally, Rokky recently launched an unofficial Steam tool to monitor distribution of Steam keys.
