Revised DPR not received by Cauvery Water Tribunal: MoS Choudhury tells Kamal Haasan

MoS Raj Bhushan Choudhury informed Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir and Drinking Water Project in Karnataka, submitted in 2019, has been returned to the project authority with a request for a revised DPR. This revised DPR is required to comply with the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) Award and the guidelines set by the Central Water Commission (CWC).

Choudhury stated that the CWC has not yet received the revised DPR. The appraisal of DPRs for water resources projects in the Cauvery Basin, submitted by state governments, is conducted by the CWC following the guidelines and in accordance with the CWDT Award and the Supreme Court's judgment dated February 16, 2018.
