Posch and Como intensify talks for sale to Mainz 05

Stefan Posch, the Austria international defender, is at the center of intensified discussions to be sold from Como to Mainz 05, according to recent reports. The 29-year-old, who has been with Como since 2025, initially joined on loan before his purchase for a combined fee of €6 million. Posch's tenure at Como has been marked by a period of loan to Mainz in January 2026, during which he played 20 matches and scored two goals.

Local sports journalists, including Florian Plettenburg from Sky Sports Deutschland and Alfredo Pedullà of Sportitalia, are optimistic that an agreement will be finalized within the next 24 hours. Mainz 05 is keen on securing Posch permanently, as his current deal at Como expires in June 2029, but his appearances for the Italian club have been limited, with only 15 outings and one goal to his name. Posch was also part of the Austria national team during the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
