Chow Kon Yeow, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leader for Pulau Pinang and also the state's chief minister, addressed reporters at a media briefing held at Komtar for the promotion of the "Dialog Keamanan Pulau Pinang" dialogue. The outcome of the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional (BN-PN) victory in Negeri Sembilan, where the BN secured 18 seats and the PN seven, has led PH in Pulau Pinang to maintain their regular governance approach, emphasizing development, welfare, and services to all communities rather than community-based approaches favored by their opponents.

Chow expressed confidence in PH's ability to continue providing inclusive governance, delivering welfare support, and developing the state for all citizens during the upcoming PRN or PRU. He urged voters to consider PH's performance in Pulau Pinang when deciding whether to re-elect PH in the next general election or not. This response comes in reaction to PAS' Public Relations Chief Ahmad Fadli Shaari's claim that BN-PN's cooperation can undermine PH's governance in Pulau Pinang.

Both BN and PN claimed victory in the Negeri Sembilan general election on Saturday, with the BN securing 18 seats and the PN seven. PH won the remaining 11 seats. Chow pointed out that BN and PN seem to see their cooperation in Negeri Sembilan as a model that can be replicated elsewhere, especially in areas where their ethnic composition favors them. Ultimately, the decision rests with the voters, he added.

Chow also noted that it is still too early to conclude whether PH has lost support among Malay and Chinese voters due to BN's victory in majority Chinese constituencies in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. If one closely examines the DAP's seat performance, Chow stated, their support base remains robust, and he refrained from commenting on the performance of PH's other component parties.

However, he acknowledged that other PH component parties did not perform well in Negeri Sembilan and this will be investigated. PH Pulau Pinang is scheduled to convene on August 8 to evaluate the PR election preparations and the state Umno's position in the state government. Chow cautioned that the political landscape can change and emphasized that PH leadership and the national party will consider all possibilities.
