Madhu Bangarappa gets Cabinet berth, leaving other aspirants disappointed

Madhu Bangarappa, an MLA from Sorab, has been re-allocated a Cabinet berth, causing disappointment among other aspirants from Shivamogga district. The incumbent, who previously served as the Minister for School Education, had been confident of retaining his position despite the change in leadership. However, Belur Gopal Krishna, an Sagar MLA, had garnered support from party workers who held public meetings and addressed the media demanding a Cabinet berth for their leader.

Gopal Krishna, too, declared himself a contender for the position and led a delegation to press for a Cabinet reshuffle. Dissatisfied with the decision, Gopal Krishna threatened to resign as MLA and chairman of the Karnataka State Forest Industries Corporation. The party's choice of Madhu Bangarappa left other disappointed aspirants, such as B.K.

Sangameshwara, who alleged the party leadership had cheated him after offering a large sum of money from the BJP. In Hassan, K.M. Shivalinge Gowda, a four-time MLA, faced no competition and was confident of receiving a Cabinet berth based on assurances from party leaders.
