Kevin Diks urges Nico Elvedi to remain at Borussia Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi has been urged by teammate Kevin Diks to stay with the club despite his contract expiring in 2027. Elvedi, 29, rejoined Gladbach’s preseason camp in Lake Tegernsee following his World Cup vacation. The club's sporting director, Rouven Schröder, must decide whether to extend his contract or sell him on a free transfer.

Gladbach prefers to avoid losing the veteran, who has been a reliable and important member of the team over his 11-year tenure. Diks, an Indonesian international, expressed his love for Elvedi and praised their strong working relationship, stating that he would love to continue playing alongside him. Both players are expected to take on leadership roles under new head coach Eugen Polanski, who plans to shift the team from a back three to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Diks noted that this change would effectively add an extra man to their possession play and highlighted the importance of their partnership in the central defense.
