How Dr. Bawumia delivered touching tribute to late Ya-Na at the installation of Regent of Dagbon

At the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II during the installation of the new Regent for Dagbon. In his speech, Dr. Bawumia, speaking in Dagbani with nostalgia and proverbs, recalled their warm relationship that dated back to when the late Ya-Na was known as Yoo-Naa, when they first met in Savelugu in 2016.

Dr. Bawumia shared a story where he advised the Yoo-Naa about the importance of trying out the NPP just as one would taste different soups if a man had two wives and only tasted the soup of one. The audience, filled with chiefs and elders, burst into laughter, delighted by the analogy.

Dr. Bawumia then reflected on the late Ya-Na's wisdom, patience, and peace, highlighting how he helped heal Dagbon after a period of disturbances. They had a bond of warmth and deep respect that spanned from Savelugu to the ancient throne of Yendi.

Turning his attention to the new Regent, Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abukari, Dr. Bawumia offered prayers and congratulations, urging the Regent and the people to uphold the legacy of peace and unity established by the late Ya-Na. He emphasized the importance of tradition, leadership, and putting the kingdom first.

The installation ceremony showcased the sacred customs of Dagbon, featuring traditional regalia, drumming, and dancing, as people from near and far gathered to witness this significant event.
