Heat reportedly warned against signing Stephen Curry's ex-teammates

The Miami Heat have recently traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware and three first-round picks to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. This move has significantly changed the franchise's ceiling, but the roster around Antetokounmpo still requires improvement. Several experienced players have entered Miami's free agency discussions, with several NBA scouts providing their evaluations.

One anonymous scout assessed the Heat's full list of veteran targets, highlighting the risks associated with many of these players. The scout's evaluations for Klay Thompson and Russell Westbrook were notably measured, while DeMar DeRozan received the most favorable assessment. Thompson, who averaged career lows in points and shooting during his time with the Dallas Mavericks, remains a buyout candidate.

However, the scout acknowledged that he is not at his best and does not expect him to consistently perform at higher levels. In contrast, Westbrook was strongly criticized by the scout, who deemed him unsuitable for the Heat. DeRozan, on the other hand, was seen as the most promising option among the six players. Despite facing fit concerns, the scout believed that DeRozan, as a sixth man, could be a valuable addition to the team.
