Google could take another page from Apple’s AirDrop for Android’s Tap to Share

Google Health has introduced a new version 5.05 that enhances compatibility with Fitbit Air devices and Apple Health. This update enables seamless data sharing between Google's health and fitness tracking and Apple's ecosystem, primarily benefiting iPhone users. Users can connect the platforms by accessing their profile, selecting Partner Apps, and following on-screen instructions to establish the connection.

US users now also benefit from the ability to generate secure Smart Health Links, which can be shared with healthcare providers in place of traditional paper forms. Additionally, the update addresses bugs related to VO2Max readings, exercise map rendering, and editing workouts. While Google Health currently pulls data from Apple Health, the implementation of secure Smart Health Links indicates a shift toward treating cross-platform data sharing as a crucial feature, potentially encouraging Apple users to opt for the Fitbit Air as their health tracker.

Meanwhile, Android enthusiasts eagerly await the rumored double-tap-to-sleep feature in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3, which could potentially replace the power button for sleep mode across multiple foldable devices in the upcoming 2027 launch cycle.
