Gender Ministry, IJM reaffirm commitment to strengthening child protection partnership

The International Justice Mission (IJM) has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with Ghana's Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) in their efforts to combat child trafficking, exploitation, and violence against children. This reaffirmation took place during a meeting with MoGCSP Minister, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, led by IJM's West Africa Director, Anita Budu.

Ms Budu highlighted that IJM has been actively working alongside the Ministry since 2015, aiming to bolster Ghana's child protection systems and assist the government in tackling child trafficking and exploitation. The meeting served as a formal engagement with the Minister, a chance to provide an update on the partnership's progress, and to reiterate IJM's commitment to supporting the Ministry's child protection agenda.

Dr Lartey expressed her appreciation for IJM's ongoing support, emphasizing that cooperation between government entities and development partners is vital for safeguarding vulnerable children. She reiterated the Ministry's willingness to strengthen the partnership with IJM to achieve a more significant impact in protecting children throughout Ghana.

The Ministry outlined the results of this collaboration, which have included the reinforcement of child protection systems, advocacy initiatives, joint child rescue efforts, public education on child protection laws, and interventions targeting child labor. Dr Lartey praised IJM as one of the Ministry's most reliable development partners, noting the organization's responsiveness to government priorities and its substantial contributions to the implementation of Ghana's National Plan of Action on Child Protection.
