Foxconn vendor Agile Robots acquires majority stake in XNG Automation to scale up local production

Agile Robots, an AI robotics company and Foxconn vendor, has acquired a majority stake in XNG Automation, a Bengaluru-based firm specializing in factory and intralogistics automation. The acquisition aims to bolster the local production capabilities of Agile Robots, which serves major clients like Foxconn and Tata Electronics, both involved in Apple iPhone manufacturing.

Saravanan Solaiappan, Agile India's managing director, confirmed the deal without disclosing financial specifics. He noted that XNG Automation's expertise in system integration and machine vision aligns with Agile Robots' need for rapid local production scaling. XNG Automation currently employs around 200 people and boasts a strong track record, having worked with industry giants such as Bosch and Toyota.

Rory Sexton, Agile Robots' Executive Director, emphasized that the acquisition will enable the company to tap into XNG Automation's deep integration expertise, allowing them to support more customers in India's transition towards intelligent AI-enabled production. Agile Robots, founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center, has installed more than 20,000 robotics solutions globally across sectors like consumer electronics and automotive.

The company expanded its operations in 2024 by opening a high-tech production facility in Chennai and a regional headquarters in Bengaluru.
