FIFA World Cup developer Refactor Games reportedly shuttered by Delphi Interactive

Refactor Games, a US studio, reportedly closed down following the release of FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition for Netflix Games in June 2026. Former employees revealed the studio's closure shortly after completing their debut release, Football Simulator, which came out in early access in 2022. The team comprised former developers from EA Sports, 2K Sports, and OneTeam Partners.

Delphi Interactive, the part-owner of Refactor Games, confirmed the studio's shutdown during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. The closure was attributed to a loss of funding, as reported by multiple former staff members. Critics had panned FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition for its flawed controls, graphics, and poor player AI, despite Netflix praising the game as a top-tier performer.

One former employee expressed their willingness to assist other developers in finding new employment opportunities.
