Etihad Rail sells more than 70,000 tickets since launch as demand remains high

Etihad Rail has reported selling over 70,000 train tickets since its passenger service commenced on June 30, 2023, between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. This surge in demand underscores the rail's growing significance as a "natural travel choice across the UAE," according to the operator. Passengers are planning their journeys well in advance, with an average booking time of 12 days.

The network, which has been in development for years, has received enthusiastic response since its launch, with several future train journeys already sold out. The Abu Dhabi to Fujairah morning train on August 15, for instance, has seen its tickets filled to capacity. Etihad Rail's chief operating officer, Azza Al Suwaidi, noted that passengers are not merely curious about the train but are incorporating it into their travel plans.

The rail service now boasts over 10 stations, with additional stations set to open in the coming months in Dubai, Sharjah, and Al Dhafra. This expansion aims to provide more convenient options for passengers, complemented by new bus services and partnerships with taxi providers. The rail service has attracted a diverse range of passengers, including commuters, tourists, and families, highlighting its role as a comfortable and reliable mode of transportation that caters to various travel needs.

Looking ahead, Etihad Rail plans to continue monitoring passenger trends and expanding its capacity as needed to accommodate growing demand.
