Algeria part ways with national team coach Petkovic

On Monday, the Algerian Football Federation announced that coach Vladimir Petkovic and his staff had mutually decided to end their contractual relationship with the national team. Despite signing a contract extension in February 2024, which was set to last until 2028, the 62-year-old coach was let go. The federation released a statement expressing their mutual agreement to terminate the partnership.

Algeria qualified for the 2022 World Cup in the United States, reaching the round of 32 before losing a match against Switzerland. The team is set to begin qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in September, where they will compete in Group I with Zambia, Togo, and Burundi.
