Wawasan buktikan kemampuan sendiri, kemenangan bukan sekadar nasib

Just seven weeks before the general election, Wawasan's triumph in securing three seats marked an extraordinary and solid debut performance for the party's leader, Hamzah Zainudin. In the PETALING JAYA election, Wawasan achieved an impressive victory by winning four out of the four contested seats in the PRN Negeri Sembilan under the umbrella of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Competing with the support of former Bersatu leaders allied with Hamzah Zainudin, Wawasan also received multi-faceted support from PN following its acceptance into the coalition.

Wawasan's largest victory was recorded in Gemas when DUN Ridzuan Ahmad, who switched from Bersatu to Wawasan after a split within the party, defeated Azman Abdullah and Siti Aishah Seman of PH by a margin of 12,624 votes, securing 78.1% of the total votes. Two more victories were achieved in Klawang, where Danni Rais defeated PH Bakri Sawir by 1,317 votes, and in Sikamat, Razali Abu Samah outperformed PH Nor Azman Mohamad by 4,413 votes.

Nor Azman's defeat in Sikamat came after former Deputy Chief Minister Aminuddin Harun moved his constituency to Linggi. This electoral success provided immediate legitimacy to Hamzah's political vehicle, emerging after the split within Bersatu. More importantly, the result demonstrated Wawasan's ability to gain support on its own strength, despite having only seven weeks to build the party structure and establish a unique identity.

The party's performance is expected to increase concerns over the future role of Bersatu within PN, given that Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership party lost all 24 seats it contested. Relations between the two parties remain tense since Hamzah and several supporting leaders left Bersatu, following internal leadership disputes, before joining Wawasan.

Hamzah informed the media that the party should no longer compete and is no longer relevant in the current Malaysian political landscape. The party's leader, Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as its Deputy Chairman, Azmin Ali, have so far rejected suggestions for the party's dissolution. With three successful MPs elected, the question now is whether Wawasan can translate this success into lasting political influence within PN and beyond.
