Verstappen Racing denied back-to-back Magny-Cours victory

The Verstappen.com Racing Team, competing in a Mercedes-AMG GT 3, failed to secure a second consecutive victory at the historic Magny-Cours circuit during the sixth round of the GT World Challenge Europe. In Race 1, the team achieved a significant win, but their fortunes changed in Race 2. Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella, the team's duo, secured the first-ever victory of the season for Max Verstappen's team after several close calls throughout the campaign, including a strong challenge at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

However, in Race 2, Juncadella started from seventh position on the grid but dropped two places after running wide through the opening corners, failing to regain momentum. A major collision between the car with the number 74 and 87 led to the red flag being displayed around the midpoint of the race. The Ferrari entry, Kessel Racing, crashed heavily into the barriers, prompting race officials to pause the action for repairs before resuming.

Post the restart, Gounon found himself in 14th place and managed to recover some positions late in the race, managing to finish inside the top 10. Despite this, it was not enough to replicate their success from Race 1. Bastian Buus of Lionspeed GP in Porsche claimed the victory, with Matisse Lismont and Luca Engstler finishing second and third, respectively, for Team WRT and Rutronik Racing.
