Vehicle with 1 million kilometres on the clock hits the market

A west Victorian stock agent has listed his 2009 Toyota LandCruiser for sale after driving it for 1 million kilometres. The Nhill resident, Gary Driscoll, averaged more than 180km a day in the vehicle, which has been serviced nearly 100 times. The auction for the vehicle will begin on Monday and run for two weeks. Driscoll is unsure of the vehicle's exact value, but believes it will be in the range of $30,000-plus.

The digital odometer currently reads 999,999km, and Driscoll plans to allow the buyer to drive the last 300 metres to reach the 1-million-kilometre mark. Horsham Toyota dealership said the vehicle is the most travelled they have seen, and the first with 1 million kilometres on the original engine. Automotive journalist Toby Hagon said it is extremely rare to find a car with such high mileage, and that the vehicle is likely to be valued based on its condition and remaining usefulness. He noted that 4WDs and utes tend to have higher mileage due to longer country road trips.
