The promise, the pain and the gold: Asmita Dey's journey to CWG history

After her father, Arjun Dey, a cycle repair shop owner, passed away in December 2025, leaving her heartbroken, Asmita considered quitting judo. However, Solanki intervened and convinced her to continue pursuing her dreams. The emotional weight of her father's passing often overwhelmed her during training, but her resolve remained unbreakable. She made her way to Delhi to continue her preparations under Solanki's guidance, despite the added pressure of his promise to fulfill her father's dream.

He promised Asmita's mother that she was like his daughter, and he would perform her kanyadaan, a traditional Indian marriage ceremony for the daughter. Solanki even arranged for Asmita to secure a constable's job in the UP Police, further alleviating the financial burden on her family.

Asmita's commitment to judo has grown exponentially since her coach's intervention. She has become a sub-inspector in the UP Police, a testament to her hard work and dedication.
