Soldier, police officer killed as army rescues nine abductees in Zamfara

On Saturday at approximately 1:40 a.m., a terrorist attack was repelled by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA at a Forward Operating Base in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the death of one Nigerian Army officer and a police officer, as well as the rescue of nine abducted civilians. The attackers attempted to infiltrate the base in Kasuwan Daji but were detected by troops and repelled with coordinated firepower.

Following the initial engagement, reinforcements arrived and troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, rescuing the nine civilians who had been abducted during the attack. Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds but were evacuated and are in stable condition. The Army confirmed that only one Army officer and one police officer lost their lives during the exchange of fire.

This attack is described as another setback for the terrorists as military operations continue in the North-West.
