Owned Hull War Risks – Notice of Cancellation

Due to the volatile circumstances in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea region, the Directors of the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association have decided to cancel all Hull War policies. These policies will not be reinstated until 00:00 GMT on 10th August 2026, when new coverage will be offered. The new list of High Risk Areas includes several changes to the previously defined regions.

Firstly, the amended areas encompass the Persian/Arabian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden, and the Southern Red Sea. Notably, Saudi Arabia falls within this newly expanded high-risk region. Additionally, the territories of Eritrea have been deleted from the Hull War, Piracy, Terrorism, and Related Perils coverage.

The policy cancellation extends to the entire African continent, specifically listing Benin, Cabo Delgado, Eritrea, the Gulf of Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, and Togo. In Europe, the Sea of Azov and Black Sea waters, along with inland waters, are also included in the high-risk areas.

Geographically, the Middle East features Bahrain, Djibouti, Iran, Iraq (including all offshore oil terminals), Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates within the high-risk list. Russia is also included in the coverage, with inland waters encompassing the Don, Donets, and Belarus, south of the 52°30'N horizontal line.
