Negeri Sembilan, Selangor DAP want Loke to stay on despite polls defeat

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has rallied behind its secretary-general, Loke Siew Fook, in the wake of his defeat in the Chennah constituency during the recent Negeri Sembilan state election. Both the Negeri Sembilan and Selangor DAP chapters have expressed their support for Loke to continue leading the party at both regional and national levels.

In Negeri Sembilan, state committee member Cha Kee Chin stated that Loke's leadership has been proven and recognised as the best in the party's history. He highlighted the significant growth of the state chapter from having only two seats in 2004 to now being respected by both allies and opponents. Kee Chin believes that Loke's leadership is crucial for navigating future political challenges and preparing for the upcoming 16th general election, despite the party's loss of its majority in the Negeri Sembilan legislative assembly.

Selangor DAP chairman Ng Sze Han echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that Loke's continued leadership is vital for maintaining stability and restoring public confidence in Pakatan Harapan. He praised Loke for taking responsibility and personally defending the Chennah state seat during the intense contest, demonstrating the credibility of a leader who was willing to shoulder such responsibility.

Ng also noted that both the Chennah and Repah seats, which the party had previously won, fell to Barisan Nasional's MCA, while the People's Justice Party (PKR) won the other two seats for the coalition.
