Living with cerebral palsy, Radin Daniel builds a life on resilience

Radin Daniel, a 35-year-old individual living with cerebral palsy, has carved out a business for himself by selling repackaged cookies and kerepek. Despite the challenges posed by his condition, Radin remains determined to live independently and support himself through his small business. Known as Daniel Cheng before converting to Islam four years ago, he sells his snacks under the brand name, Daniel Beeskut.

Radin's mornings are filled with daily tasks such as making his bed, doing laundry, and having breakfast. However, his true passion lies in packing and selling the snacks each Friday. He relies on a friend to take him to Subang Bestari, where he sets up a stall and sells his goods at car boot sales on weekends. Though the work is physically demanding, with activities like showering and snack preparation taking significant time, Radin remains resolute in pursuing his livelihood.

Despite facing discrimination and unwelcoming remarks from some, Radin refuses to let these experiences deter him. He believes that people should not be judged based on his wheelchair, and instead focuses on earning an honest living to contribute to society. Radin's close friend assists him with transportation and setting up his booth during events, providing much-needed support due to his lack of family upbringing.

Radin's aspiration is to open his own shop, hoping to help others, especially the less fortunate, by offering affordable cookies. In the meantime, he continues to sell his snacks and spread positivity by encouraging others to persevere in life, echoing his own words, "Do not give up in life. Do whatever you can."
