'It was a no-brainer!': Jadeveon Clowney excited for return to Texans

Jadeveon Clowney, the 2014 No. 1 overall pick, is thrilled to return to the Houston Texans after a seven-year absence. The defensive end, who could have signed with other teams for top dollar, opted to reunite with his hometown team for what he considers a "no-brainer" situation. "For sure, I was so excited," Clowney told KRPC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson.

"It was comfortable for me to do that." Signed to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, Clowney returns to Reliant Stadium to join an elite pass rush led by Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. The decision to return was not solely financial but also a matter of legacy and chasing a Super Bowl. Clowney, who now has a lot of game left in him, expressed his desire to contribute to the team's success.

He stated, "I was looking forward to playing for DeMeco," adding that the two-time Pro Bowl linebacker is a "pretty exciting coach to play for." Clowney also revealed his excitement to play alongside Anderson and Hunter as the No. 3 option, stating, "I was excited about playing with those guys. Good defense, and I can help contribute and a good chance to chase a Super Bowl." The Texans' regular season kicks off against the Buffalo Bills on September 13.
